Ribbon Inspired: Pink & Green Flowers

Just a quick post for now until I can sneak some more play time in.  This is another ribbon inspired card.  That just means that I start by picking some ribbon and design my card to match it.  Sometimes that's the only way I end up using some of the gorgeous patterned ribbon I've collected.  This one is super simple with some cuttlebug embossed swirls and flowers.  

I hope to sneak in some play time tonight and have some fun stuff to share with you after that.

Ribbon Inspired: Bright Daisies

I have quite a collection of pieces of ribbon that are just begging to be used to create something beautiful.  Sometimes, I design a card by starting with the ribbon and this is one of those cards:
This gorgeous gingham ribbon is bright yellow and orange.  I matched SU only orange and yo yo yellow cardstock to it.  With such bold colors, it needed bold images.  There are two SU sets used here- Definately Decorative Daisies and Hand Painted Petites.
The happy birthday sentiment is from the SU set called Favorite Greetings.  The ink colors used to make this "floral arrangement" are only orange, yo yo yellow, garden green, sage shadow, close to cocoa and chocolate chip.
And here's the inside.  Pretty plain by my standards, huh?  

I was very excited today when I checked my blog and I was exactly the 12,000th hit on the counter.  I never imagined that I'd get very many readers so to see 12,000 on there just blows me away.  Thank you to those who are reading on a regular basis and thank you to those who have left comments.  I love to read comments and I appreciate them so much!  And a big thank you to Nise, who is the self-appointed the president of my fan club (funny, right?!).  You keep me laughing and you keep me motivated!  Thanks so much!

Ribbon Inspired: My Dear & Wonderful Friend

Here's another ribbon inspired card.  I like to dig through the dollar ribbon spools at the big box craft stores for buried treasures.  This ribbon is gorgeous.  I love that color green.  
I designed this card to incorporate the swirls embossing folder because it matches the swirls on the ribbon so nicely.  The color combo is certainly celery and blush blossom and I just happened to have some flowers and brads in my stash that matched very nicely.
And here's the inside.... matching, of course.

Ribbon Inspired: Bloom

I've started a new "label" on my blog for ribbon inspired cards- you can find it listed on the right side of my blog under "posts by topic".   I have some beautiful patterned  and printed ribbons and I've figured out that they are easier to use if you design the card around them instead of waiting until a card "needs" that ribbon.  

I made several ribbon inspired cards this week and this is the first one I'm sharing with you: 

I wish I could get this card to photograph a little better because I have to tell you, in real life, it's stunning.  My husband even told me with great conviction that this is the most the beautiful card I've ever made (his favorite color is yellow).  

I started with this great ribbon- it's deep black satin and printed in bright yellow.  I designed the card with same colors of cardstock and I just happened to have the perfect big yellow bloom floating around and it makes a great focal point on this card.
Here's a close up of the front.  The big bloom is a few different yellow flowers layered and held together with a big brad.  I used the swirls embossing folder and the cuttlebug to add some dimension.
And here's the inside of the card.  This card is really one of my favorites.  So simple but such wow factor.
